Snapshots of Summer: Events that Brought Us Together
Sep 15, 2025
Summer 2025 was one for the books! From community celebrations to advocacy events, People Inc. staff and people we support came together to show support, raise awareness, and enjoy time with others.
Scroll through our photo gallery to see what we’ve been up to this summer!

Laurel Run
Each summer, Park Place Day Habilitation heads to downtown Silver Creek for the Laurel Run. Friends from nearby group homes join to cheer on the runners. After the race, they take part in Laurel’s Lap, a walk honoring people with disabilities.

Puerto Rican & Hispanic Heritage Festival Events
People Inc. employees Shirley Fernandez and Izzy Cruz led the People Inc. team through the Puerto Rican & Hispanic Flag Raising Ceremony and the festival parade, showing pride and support for the community.

Disability Pride Festival Events – Flag Raising and Festival
People Inc. staff attended the Disability Pride Flag Raising and Festival, joining others in the disability community, along with advocates and supporters. Shanell Davis, senior advocate, was a featured speaker and served as Parade Marshal.

Pride Celebrations in Rochester, Naples, and Buffalo
People Inc. celebrated pride in multiple cities and towns this summer, walking alongside a decorated vehicle, helping to staff a designated “safe zone” along parade routes, and providing information to the community.

Juneteenth Celebrations
As a proud sponsor of the Juneteenth Festivals of Buffalo and Rochester, People Inc. was represented in the parade and hosted an information table during the event. Shanika Williams and Chaynna Powell choreographed an ASL interpretation of the agency’s values, titled “Movement.”

Rochester Red Wings Employee Appreciation Event
People Inc. employees in Rochester and their guests enjoyed a fun, albeit rainy, night at the ballpark to watch the Rochester Red Wings play.

Buffalo Zoo Employee Appreciation Event
People Inc. employees and their families were invited to a night at the Buffalo Zoo to enjoy animals and the special illuminated exhibits. See below for a video recap from the event.
