Bills Player Brightens Day for Program Participants, Staff

The Bills season ended abruptly, but our enthusiasm for the team will never die! That's why it was an exciting day earlier this month when Buffalo Bills Defensive Tackle DeWayne Carter paid a visit to People Inc.’s Orchard Park Day Habilitation Program.

Carter was gracious in sharing laughs and posing for photos with people attending the program, staff, and President and CEO Anne McCaffrey. With his rookie year under his belt, Carter has expressed an interest in becoming more involved in the Western New York and Rochester communities, and we are glad he chose People Inc. as a way to that. Join us for a Night of Celebration on Wednesday, April 30, at the Buffalo Powerhouse. Guests will enjoy great food, musical entertainment and a silent auction. The event highlights People Inc.’s efforts to provide health and human services that enrich lives and communities. We will also celebrate the dedicated people who bring our mission to life through our innovative programs, care, and support of about 10,000 people across Western New York and Rochester.

State's Rate Reimbursement Increase Boosts Workforce

Thanks to a recent reimbursement rate increase from the NY State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, People Inc. staff working in our Residential and Day Programs received their largest hourly wage increase in years - and our new starting rates were also increased. This milestone underscores the importance of the work and contributions of the direct support team and our ongoing commitment to supporting our incredible workforce.

Over the past decade, People Inc. leadership has consistently advocated for increased wages, ensuring state leaders understand the critical role direct support professionals play in enriching lives and fostering independence.
