People Inc. Finger Lakes and St. Luke Tabernacle Community Church host Harvest Festival for the community to learn the services offered through their collaboration. This event will be held on Wednesday, November 13, from 11a.m.-2 p.m. at St. Luke Tabernacle Community Church at 1261 Dewey Avenue, Rochester. The event is for community members, service providers and educators. This is an open house with a historic tour, information on services and admission is free.

People Inc., Western New York’s leading non-profit human service agency has expanded its services into the Rochester and the Finger Lakes region with the creation of People Inc. Finger Lakes. Formerly DePaul Developmental Services, People Inc. Finger Lakes has joined with its Western New York counterpart to provide quality services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

St. Luke Tabernacle Community Church of Rochester is led by Dr. James H. Evans, Jr., whose passion is to serve the community with compassion and spiritual direction. Through linking residents with services and information that many are lacking; especially concerning health and human services, he strives to enrich quality of life. The church motto is “Where the Word Meets the World!” Through its collaboration with People Inc., a youth center and other health related services are available to the community.

The church is giving transformational encouragement, educational support, and collaborative opportunities that are life changing. Pastor Evans states,” Our partnership with People Inc. is a critical part of our ministry to our community. We are excited to participate in this service. By providing a place for caregivers of persons with autism to get a respite we are carrying out our mission.”

People Inc. Finger Lakes headquarters are at 835 West Main Street in Rochester and currently serve 500 individuals with disabilities and their families and employs 240 team members. People Inc. Finger Lakes has plans to grow. People Inc. Finger Lakes provides a variety of services including: After-School Respite, Community Habilitation, Day Hab Without Wall, In-Home Respite, Residential Programs and Service Coordination

This partnership has also been a model for other outreach ministries that are currently being planned. Pastor Evans states, “It has been my pleasure to serve St. Luke as Pastor since our founding in 2000. We have accomplished much in our 13 years of service, but we are convinced that our future is even more promising. It is my vision to offer to our community an integrated network of outreach services that will address a variety of social and spiritual needs. Our partnership with People Inc. Finger Lakes is a first step in making that vision a reality.”

People Inc. is a not-for-profit health and human services agency providing programs and services to more than 12,000 people with special needs, their families and seniors throughout Western New York. Since 1971, People Inc. has assisted individuals to achieve greater degrees of independence and productivity.
