disABILITIES Film Festival and Speaker Series concludes with Up Syndrome
An opportunity to meet producer Duane Graves

What:
The Museum of disABILITY History, a project of People Inc., concludes its 2nd Annual disABILITIES Film Festival and Speaker Series on Saturday, October 28. The film festival will feature Up Syndrome, which is written, produced, directed, and edited by Duane Graves. This documentary involves one of Graves’ childhood friends who has Down syndrome. For over a year, the film follows Rene Moreno, 23 years old, and shifts the viewer from lighthearted to melancholy to solemn emotions. Award winning producer Graves will be the featured speaker. He produced and edited the film Up Syndrome, which won three Best Documentary awards including the 2001 Slamdance Film Festival.

Saturday, October 28, 2006; 2 p.m.-5 p.m.

Where:
Dipson Market Arcade Film and Arts Center, 639 Main Street in Buffalo

Admission:
$2 per person and free for students.

Why:
The goal is to provide entertainment and information while exploring issues faced by people with disabilities. The programs are intended to educate viewers about disabilities and challenge stereotypes.
