Board Leadership Workshop held to help make Boards Accountable
Featuring Miriam Carver, Leading Policy Governance Theorist and Consultant
BUFFALO , N.Y. , September 7, 2006: In today’s non-profit and corporate sectors, Board Members are being held to higher expectations and scrutiny, without necessarily having the tools or governance knowledge to function in the most accountable manner. Policy Governance® is the world’s most complete theoretical foundation for the board’s governance role in business, nonprofit, and government organizations. An upcoming workshop, co-sponsored by People Inc. and Daemen College, will feature Leading Policy Governance Theorist and Consultant Miriam Carver. The workshop, “Get your Board on board,” will be held Wednesday, September 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Daemen College Business Center, 4380 Main St. in Amherst.
The Policy Governance® model enables the board to focus on the larger issues, to delegate with clarity, to control management’s job without meddling, to rigorously evaluate the accomplishments of the organization; to truly lead its organization. Those who could benefit by attending this workshop include: executive directors, senior management, board chairs and members, and support staff assisting Boards.
This dynamic workshop will allow attendees to ask questions and walk away with a plan of action. The cost for one person is $100 and $250 for groups of three. A continental breakfast and lunch are included. Attendance is limited. For more information or for a registration form, call (716) 817-7461.
