Buffalo, N.Y., March 16, 2007: The quality of life as we age is important. Seniors today are experiencing serious financial hardships. It has become impossible for many to make ends meet. Rising health care and prescription costs, high utility bills, and home repair expenses are challenging and for seniors with dwindling incomes, the impact is worse. Many seniors end up choosing between food and medication, or between staying in their home that is getting harder to afford and maintain, and living in unsafe housing. As family members move out of the area, seniors can become socially isolated.
People Inc. is helping hundreds of seniors by providing safe, attractive, affordable apartments through twelve locations in Western New York. Family members and seniors are encouraged to tour one of People Inc.’s Senior Housing complexes in Lackawanna called Sunflower Housing. The Open House will be held on Thursday, March 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 146 Franklin Street (off Ridge Road just west of South Park Avenue). People Inc.’s Senior Housing programs offer rental assistance for independent seniors age 62 and up. The rental apartments include gas, heat, and water. There is on-site management and maintenance, on-site laundry, emergency pull cords and response systems, group transportation for weekly grocery shopping and social activities. The building also includes a Community Room with full kitchen and lounge area for social gatherings and a caretaker for building emergencies.
In addition to the Lackawanna facility, People Inc. operates senior housing complexes in Amherst, Blasdell, Cheektowaga, Clarence, Grand Island, Hamburg, Orchard Park, South Buffalo, North Buffalo, and West Seneca. Applications are currently being accepted for apartments in Clarence, Blasdell, Cheektowaga, Lackawanna, and South Buffalo.
