People Inc. presents “An Evening with Eric P. Hartwig, Ph.D.,” and “Balancing Discipline, Motivation, and Behavior with Best Practice”

Conferences are for parents/caregivers of children and for professionals who are interested in learning how to communicate with difficult people and address behavioral issues

Buffalo, N.Y. February 22, 2006: People Inc. in cooperation with Parent Network of Western New York and the Early Childhood Direction Center is hosting two workshops for those interested in learning to communicate positively and successfully with difficult people encountered in every day life. The keynote speaker is Eric P. Hartwig, Ph.D., administrator of the Pupil Services for the Marathon County Children with Disabilities Education Board.

Both workshops will be held at Millennium Airport Hotel Buffalo, 2040 Walden Ave. in Cheektowaga.

For parents and caregivers who wish to learn strategies to motivate children and are interested in managing behavior using positive educational practices, “An Evening with Eric P. Hartwig, Ph.D.” will be extremely helpful. This event will be held April 5, 2006 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost per person is $5.00.

The Balancing Discipline workshop will consist of a morning and afternoon session. The first session will address useful strategies in dealing with difficult people professionals may encounter in daily life. The second session is an interactive workshop that will address behavioral issues faced by professionals and also discuss Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), legal conduct and documentation, and review legal requirements for addressing behaviors of individuals with disabilities. The workshop will be held Thursday, April 6, 2006. Registration with a continental breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the conference will end at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $85.

Dr. Hartwig is the author and principle trainer on the Just-in-Time: Behavioral Initiative Project. Additionally, he is the co-author of eight videos and the author of four videos on discipline and behavior.

Early Childhood Direction Center is a program offering assistance to parents of children with special needs, birth to five, based out of The Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
