Providing care as a family – Family Care Program
People Inc.'s Family Care program offers a residential alternative to individuals who have developmental disabilities. The program allows individuals to benefit from a “family” environment with less structure than a traditional residential setting.
What do Family Care Providers do?
Family Care providers accept a person who has a developmental disability into their home as part
of their family and their community. Providers help plan and implement the individual's growth and
development by providing assistance or support with activities of daily living and foster a sense of well
being by providing understanding, guidance, and supervision. People Inc. provides service coordination,
medical coordination, and 24-hour emergency on-call service.
What do Family Care Providers say about the experience?
“Being a part of Family Care has been a wonderful experience. I feel as a Family Care Provider, I am able to provide a family atmosphere to someone that may not have any family. We need more people to become a part of the Family Care family!” Alisha C.
“It's exciting to me to be a part of Family Care and I feel we should have more providers and participants because it really makes you feel as though you are a part of a close-knit family!” Cindy J.
“It has always been my dream to help people with developmental disabilities and the Family Care program has made that dream come true! It has impacted my participants' lives a great deal. They have become more independent, their appearances have changed, and their attitudes toward things have changed. My family and I embrace the participants and they embrace us!” Patricia Z.
