The best part is those overwhelming tasks of living in a large house and having to maintain it are a thing of the past! Your loved one's income goes farther with rental assistance, allowing seniors to better afford the things they enjoy.
Independent seniors age 62 and older who have an annual income of lower than $19,950 for one person and $22,800 for two people are eligible to apply; rent is calculated according to income. Apartment complexes are located in Amherst, Blasdell, Cheektowaga, Grand Island, Hamburg, North Buffalo, Orchard Park, and South Buffalo. Construction is underway for new complexes in Lackawanna and West Seneca.
Tenants of People Inc.'s Senior Housing develop friendships with their neighbors. Joan Wittmeyer, tenant of Carnation Senior Housing in Orchard Park, feels secure and pleased with her decision to move. "My husband passed away and I didn't know how I would afford our current place, then I heard about Carnation Housing," Joan said. "It's safe, cozy, and friendly. The management, staff, and the neighbors are wonderful. I feel that my husband is resting easier knowing that I am safe and happy."
The individual apartments are unique as each tenant adds their own personal charm and décor to their living space. All of the apartments include a kitchen, bedroom, living room with dining area, a private bathroom, and new appliances. Laundry facilities are also located at each site. Locations include a furnished community room and kitchen for social events and a calendar of enjoyable activities. Your loved one will feel safe with the 24-hour on-call emergency services available when you need them! As you walk down the hallways of each senior housing complex, the sense of home is felt as you see wreaths on doors and welcome mats with flowers on them.
People Inc. Chief Operating Officer Rhonda Frederick notes, "New Developments will help hundreds more seniors in the community feel happier and more secure. In addition to new locations, we are also providing extra services like computers with Internet access for the community room, health screenings and education through People Inc. Home Health Care nurses, as well as partnerships with the local Red Cross."
