Congressman Reynolds Announces 11 million in HUD Awards to People
_Inc.

On January 12, Congressman Thomas Reynolds announced that People Inc. was awarded $11 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to build two new affordable senior housing complexes for low-income seniors. Reynolds spoke about the need for the continued development of affordable senior housing. Current Senior Housing tenants shared their stories on what it means to live independently in affordable housing. The event was held at the People Inc. Administrative Office in Williamsville.

This will be the thirteenth and fourteenth low-income senior housing complexes owned and operated by People Inc. The new complexes will be located on Sowles Road in the Town of Hamburg and on Townline Road in the Town of Wheatfield; both include 49 one-bedroom units, activity room, and caretaker’s apartment. Individual apartments include a kitchen, bedroom, living room with dining area, a private bathroom, and new appliances. Laundry facilities are also located at each site. Both locations were carefully chosen to ensure community integration for the residents and be developed to blend into the existing neighborhood. Abundant opportunities are provided for interaction within the community. Read More...
