Museum Grant
People Inc.’s Museum of disABILITY History is pleased to announce that it has received an Organizational Award of Merit from the Western New York Association of Historical Agencies at the Association's 2005 Annual Meeting.

This award was presented to the Museum of disABILITY History for its traveling exhibit Eugenics in America: Perfecting the Population which, as noted by the Association, “provides a balanced look at a controversial subject while enlightening the community about disability history.” In presenting the award, the Association further stated that “the success of this exhibit demonstrates that a small, new museum with limited space and resources is able to develop a thoughtful and provocative exhibit that reaches a broad and diverse audience.” The purpose of the WNYAHA Awards Program is to recognize excellence within the historical field in the twelve-county WNY region for the purpose of encouraging projects of similar excellence and to focus attention on projects that can serve as models to encourage other organizations to attempt similar activities

The Museum of disABILITY History, located at 1291 North Forest Road is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment. Community members, organizations, and school groups are welcome to stop by for a tour. For further information about the Museum, call 817-7439 or visit the website
