Bus Safety

  1. Children should be supervised while walking to and at the bus stop. Make sure they know to wait away from the road and to avoid rough play.
  2. Teach your children to ask the bus driver for help if he or she drops something near the bus.
  3. Make sure clothing has no loose drawstrings and backpacks straps are short so that they don't get caught in the handrail or bus door.
  4. Encourage safe school bus loading and unloading.
  5. Motorists coming to a school bus from either direction must stop when the bus displays flashing red lights and extends the stop signal arm.
  6. Never pass a school bus on the right side of the bus.
