The Crime Victims Assistance Program is a state funded program to help innocent victims of crime. Victims have to be physically injured as a result of a crime. If not injured, the individual has to be under 18, over 60, or have a disability. NYS Crime Victims Board is a payer of last resort. Eligible participants can be compensated for:

  • Medical and counseling expenses
  • Essential personal property such as cash, eyeglasses, or clothing
  • Burial/funeral expenses
  • Lost wages
  • Referrals to domestic violence shelters
  • Crime scene clean up
  • Moving expenses (inquire within; usually paid for in stalking cases)
